Sekiten is an annual ritual observed on September 28th. In the morning, a ritual for Confucius’ father and the ancestors of Confucius’ Four Disciples (Yan Hui, Zenzi, Zisi and Mencius) is conducted in the Taisei-den. Later in the afternoon, a ritual for Confucius and the Four Disciples begins with offerings of food such as pork, fish, chicken, confectionary, silk and sake. The Kume-mura representatives, clad in official ceremonial garb called Kurocho, solemnly performs the rituals. Please see photos of the ritual sequences.
